We created Sipping Sisters to blog about coffee shops, our favorite drinks, and share recipes. Now, one thing I don't always want to sip on is a smoothie. I like to make them thick and put them in bowls. I find them more satieating this way. So, even though this blog is dedicated to sharing about our favorite sips, I thought I'd bring you a recipe I created that's a twists on a classic - the Chai Latte.
This recipe does require some overnight prep, but trust me when you dive into this bowl in the morning, you're taste buds will thank you. It's a fricken magical breakfast! And did I mention it's extremely healthy as well? We love a sipping (or in this case spooning) sister who fuels her body right!

To make: The night before, start by boiling a cup of water. Then, using 1 or 2 chai tea bags, brew in a small amount of liquid to make a chai tea concentrate. Store in the fridge overnight.
In the meantime (also the night before), boil an inch of water in a small sauce pan. Chop some zucchini and carrots. Steam till soft, let cool, and freeze.
Also place one chopped banana, and 1/2 of a pear (can just sub for more banana) in the freezer.
In the morning, place a bowl in the freezer. Then place the frozen fruit and 1 cup of the frozen veggies in the blender, along with a splash of almond milk, your chai concentrate, a handful of dry oatmeal, and vanilla protien powder. You're also going to want to add a chai spice blend for extra flavor. Mine consisted of cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, and a pinch of nutmeg, clove, and black pepper. I didn't use exact measurements I just added pinches of each (extra cinnamon) till it tasted right. Once you're smoothie bowl is blended, put it in your cold bowl and top it with whatever you feel like. I chose almond butter, coconut yogurt, blueberries, granola, and coconut flakes. I loved this healthy and flavorful breakfast SO much, and it gave me great energy for my day of dancing. Hope you try this out and enjoy it as much as I did!
- Sincerely, O.
